New base coat!

So today I went to Sally's to get another one of my base coat that was on sale and I picked up this:

I've never used a ridge filler before but I know I need one because unless I super buff my nails they are always ridgy and I can tell in polish application.  So I am going to try this as my base coat.  I'll let you know how it goes.

Day six: Violet nails

This nails are actually really special to me.  I recently got the polish Anne from Julep, which is a gorgeous Lavender.  My late grandmother's name was Anne and her favorite color was green, she was a real girly person (not so much polish, but make up and other things) so these nails are for her.

The green is westside warrior from China Glaze.  And Julep's Anne.  I really like this one and I might do it again in the future.  I'm sorry I have to take it off.

Day 5 nail polish challenge: Blue nails

So this was suposed to go up yesterday, but time warner came by to "fix" something shortly after I came home from work and then the internet was really slow and unresponsive. So you get two post today!  Yay!

This was pre-clean up

accent nail

The two polishes I used were two/three coats Julep's Annie, which is an amazing color, I love it!  And China Glaze's Dorothy Who.  I think it went really well.  I like it better than the green which was the same texture/micro shimmer.  I think the main difference was this had silver and Glistening Garland has gold, which does not look good on me.

New Nail Polish Remover!

So today I went to Sephora today and bought this nail polish remover

I had been playing with this for a while in the store.  I like the idea I could not only take off my polish with no mess and cotton balls but that I could take off just one finger without messing up the others (which I do all the time :( )  So I bought it and tried it out and this is the result.
The top finger is one that I used with the new remover and the second is one where I took it off with regular acetone and a cotton ball.  I'm not sure how great it is on this picture, but the cotton ball and acetone nail completely dried out the skin and left it white, where as the new remover has a moisturizing agent that doesn't leave behind dry skin.  So far I love it!

Day four: Green nails

So today I did green nails.  So far these are my least favorite I think.

My girlfriend, who also runs a nail polish blog, came up with the concept of green nails with matte tips.  I loved the thought but the execution was... terrible.  For one thing I painted my nails last night and was going to do the tips in the morning.  When I woke up they were chipped in so many places.  I didn't put a top coat on since I knew I was just taking them off.  So then I said what the hell and put the matte tips on anyway.  They looked absolutely terrible.  First of all, my nails are short right now because I had to cut them due to flaking and breakage, so there really wasn't my of a tip to work with and it looked awkward. Second, I think because the polish it's self wasn't super shiny on it's own and I didn't put a top coat on the matte tips were really hard to see unless you got your fingers 2 inches from my nails.  In the end I just said f*** it and did a fourth layer of Glistening Garland from China Glaze over what I already had, which besides my ability to really clean up my nails, is why there is so much polish around my cuticles.  All in all I don't think it need four coats, it was mostly opaque with 2, but I need to cover up all the chipping and matte tips before I could bear to show it to anyone.

Day three challenge: Yellow Nails

So today I did Yellow Nails!!!

I used 3-4 coats of China Glaze's Happy Go Lucky as a base.  I didn't like that it took so many coats to be opaque and not streaky, but I did like the color.  For the glittery top coat I used China Glaze's new Mosaic Madness.  It is blue and black hexagons and tiny glitter pieces with black bars.  I was just going to do two accent nails but it looked so pretty I had to do them all!

Orange nails: Nail Challenge day 2

So today I did orange nails!

Again sorry for the clean up.  This time I tried a jelly sandwich!  :D  I did three coats of O.P.I.'s Y'all Come Back Now Ya Hear, followed by 1 coat of Orly's Right Amont of Evil, topped with a final coat of the O.P.I.  I like it as far as oranges go, but it's not my favorite color over all.

Books for class

So I am starting to read the Rape of Lucrece by William Shakespeare. This is not a voluntary read. I have I read this one for my Shakespeare English class. :/ Not sure how I feel about it I want more time to read Divergent by Veronica Roth!

Red nails: Day one challenge

Today is my first day of this challenge.

I used two coats of O.P.I. Vodka and Caviar topped with one coat of China Glaze's Ruby Red Pumps.  On my accent nail I used Julep's America the Beautiful.  I like this how this turned out.  I had never tried my America the Beautiful before this I'm happy I managed to get at least one star in the picture (they're aren't many in the bottle.)  Sorry about the clean up job, I'm not very good at not getting polish all over my fingers, especially because I had to cut my nails super short because they flake and chip so much.  The reason I have no pinky in the second picture is because it got messed up, but oh well.  :)  I'm pleased.

Finished book!

So my first official post is about books!  Yesterday I finished the 3rd in a series!  I bought it the day it came out.  It was the 3rd in the Chemical Garden series, Sever.

It's by Lauren DeStefeno.  The 1st book is called Wither and the second Fever.  I just can't explain all the feelings this book made me have.  It was just absolutely amazing.  Without giving too much away, the series follows the main character, who is a a girl named Rhine, who is taken from her Manhattan home, under the guise of a false experiment, and her twin brother and is then sold to be a bride along with two other girls.  In this "post apocalyptic" society genes have been manipulated to have a "first generation" was perfect and cured of all sickness and disease however they're children die, for females, at the age of 20, and males, the age of 25.  It's such an amazing series I'm just sad it was over.

Introductions!

Hi!  My name is Wendy.  I'm 24 years old.  About to graduate college.  This is my first blog, besides my Tumblr.  =^.^=  I will be blogging about books, my favorite things, and nail polish.  I've always been a reader so I love book especially teen fiction.  And I've recently, thanks to my girlfriend, started to have a growing nail polish collection so I decided to show that off and see if I can learn to do more things with that!  I'm excited to learn.
